CUT AND CHIC VINTAGE

ONE THING I NEVER ANTICIPATED FROM BECOMING A FASHION BLOGGER WAS ALL THE AMAZING FRIENDSHIPS AND BONDS YOU CAN MAKE FROM LIKEMINDED PEOPLE ONLINE. YOU COME ACROSS WOMEN AND MEN ALL OVER THE WORLD THAT EMBRACE AND UNDERSTAND YOUR WEIRDNESS AND STYLE. RESPOND TO YOUR VOICE AND HELP INSTIL THAT SOMETIMES NEEDED PUSH TO KEEP WRITING AND SHARING. WHICH BRINGS ME NICELY ON TO MY BABE OF THE FRIGGING YEAR! JO FROM CUT AND CHIC.

I BASICALLY WANT HER ENTIRE WARDROBE AND WOULD LOVE FOR HER TO LOAN IT ALL TO ME PRETTY PLEASE?!! I MEAN TALK ABOUT STEAL HER STYLE. NOT ONLY IS HER STYLING ON ANOTHER LEVEL BUT SHE IS SUCH A BEAUT OF PERSON INSIDE AND OUT. WE'VE GOT TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER JUST FROM COMMENTING ON EACH OTHERS WORK VIA INSTAGRAM AND BLOGS, A WHILE AGO. SHE IS JUST SO SUPPORTIVE AND GENEROUS WITH HER TIME. GIVING ME BUNDLES OF CONFIDENCE AMONGST THIS CRAZY BLOGGING WORLD THAT I WANTED TO SPREAD JO’S DELIGHT-NESS ALL TO YOU. WITH A QUICK INSIGHTFUL INTERVIEW ON BLOGGING, VINTAGE FASHION AND HER AMAZING ETSY ONLINE STORE....

WHAT MADE YOU BECOME A FASHION BLOGGER?

When I started my blog a few years ago, it was more a way for me to talk about my vintage shop and my latest vintage finds. Truth be told, it wasn’t until a year ago did I think of myself as a “proper” fashion blogger! My love of blogging grew throughout the years and now I totally think of it as an equal, if not a completely separate entity, from running an online shop. Blogging has been such a wonderful way of expressing my personal style and connecting with other very creative and stylish people, such as yourself!

WHO ARE YOUR ALL TIME FAVOURITE STYLE ICONS?

Hmmm…it’s hard for me to pinpoint just one person or even a few people who I constantly go to for style inspiration. I am very inspired by street style though. I often like to just sit in a cafe and watch people go by. I’m lucky to live in New York City and to have lived in London, which are two cities where people have such amazing and eclectic style.

WHAT WARDROBE ITEM COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT (INCLUDING SHOES)?

A chic pair of well-fitting jeans. I’m usually always in a pair of jeans. My favorite go-to pair at the moment is Topshop’s pretty blue mom jeans. And I’m never without my favorite gemstone ring from Etsy. I wear it everyday.

WHAT TIPS HAVE YOU GOT FOR ANYONE THINKING OF STARTING A BLOG?

Don’t overthink what you need to do, just get stuck in! Start by just having fun, being you, and create, create, create! The more you blog, the more you’ll start finding your stride, your own unique sense of style, and your niche. If you aren’t sure about how to do something, you can always ask a fellow blogger or look it up online. There are so many how-to tips out there for getting set up, photography, etc.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR STYLE INSPIRATION FROM?

Aside from people watching, I like using Pinterest to collect different types of looks I want to try in the future. Watching a film or a T.V. show inspires me too from time to time. I also subscribe to online magazines such as WhoWhatWear, The Zoe Report, and Career Girl Daily.

WHAT'S THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING FOR YOU?

Definitely connecting and collaborating with other creatives from all over the world. I love that blogging has expanded my horizons by opening up opportunities to work with different brands and on different kinds of exciting new projects.
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR ETSY FABULOUS ONLINE SHOP?

I started selling my vintage finds on Etsy in 2011, but it was born out of selling my vintage finds at Spitalfields Market before that. I hand-pick every vintage item in my collection for it’s uniqueness, quality, and head-turning style. I want whoever wears one of my vintage finds to feel absolutely amazing in it. I tend to collect statement pieces because I think that’s what wearing vintage is all about, expressing your individuality and having fun with your own personal style!

HOW DO YOU BALANCE LIFE AND BLOGGING?

No matter what, I make blogging a priority. I make sure to set aside time for my outfit post photo shoots, creating and writing content, as well as promoting the work that I’ve published. Creating a content calendar, planning ahead, as well as using scheduling tools like Buffer for my various social media channels has been invaluable to me. Also, I love to make lists. If I don’t write it down, I’ll never get to it!
WHICH PIECES FROM YOUR WARDROBE WILL YOU BE REACHING FOR THE MOST THIS AUTUMN/WINTER?

With the temperatures getting cooler, I’ve already been using polo neck jumpers a lot! I think a simple black polo neck top can elevate any outfit, whether paired with your favorite jeans or layered under a dress. Also, I’ve been wearing my favorite pair of chelsea boots from Grenson on most days. They’re such a timeless staple and I love that they add a bit of a masculine edge to any look.
WHAT IS YOUR ULTIMATE BEAUTY PRODUCT?

I like beauty products that enhance your natural beauty instead of covering it all up. The basics I tend to use all the time are Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB Cream, YSL’s Touche Eclat, Glossier’s Boy Brow, Benefit’s Dallas Blush and Roller Lash Mascara, and Burt’s Bee’s Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom.
WHICH TRACK DID YOU LAST PLAY ON YOUR PHONE OR IPOD?

Love$ick by Mura Masa feat. A$AP Rocky.
